Basketball Game Preview: Standish-Sterling Panthers vs. Garber Dukes

The Standish-Sterling Panthers will take on the Garber Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Standish-Sterling will be looking to extend their current 17-game winning streak.

Standish-Sterling is returning to their home court after beating Pinconning on theirs, despite the fact Pinconning has dominated at home this season. Standish-Sterling took down Pinconning 75-56 on Tuesday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Spartans are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Garber came up short against Bay City Western on Friday and fell 63-56. The Dukes haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Standish-Sterling's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points over those games. As for Garber, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Standish-Sterling didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Garber when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory.
