Basketball Recap: Montgomery County Triumphs

Campbell County typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Montgomery County proved too difficult a challenge. They slipped by the Campbell County Camels 53-52. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 71-67 loss the last time these two teams met.

Montgomery County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Fawns led the charge by going 7 of 11 en route to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Gentry, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points.

Campbell County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Garyn Jackson, who went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points and five rebounds. That was a full 38.5% of Campbell County's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Austin Davie was another key player, going 7 for 16 on his way to 17 points and seven boards.

Montgomery County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Campbell County, their defeat ended a 21-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5.
