Softball Recap: Pottsville Starts Season with Win Against Daniel Boone

Pottsville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They blew past the Daniel Boone Blazers 13-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crimson Tide also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Peyton Eckert made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Eckert was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Aubrey Scanlan and Jes Siminitus did most of the damage at the plate: Scanlan scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Siminitus scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Siminitus is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jo Barnhart, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Pottsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Daniel Boone only posted an OBP of .188.

Daniel Boone is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pottsville will host Fleetwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Daniel Boone, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cocalico at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
