Basketball Recap: Wheeler County Starts Season with Victory Against Dublin

Wheeler County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Dublin Fighting Irish 42-40. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 51-48 loss the last time these two teams met.

Nikita James had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten steals. Those ten steals gave her a new career-high. A'Naja Ricks was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the defeat, Dublin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Keasia Jackson dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.

Dublin's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Wheeler County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-44 defeat against Bacon County on the 5th. As for Dublin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-29 victory against Wilkinson County on the 6th.
