Barron Collier is 8-2 against Palmetto Ridge since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Barron Collier Cougars will welcome the Palmetto Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Barron Collier: 3.5, Palmetto Ridge: 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Tuesday, Barron Collier was able to grind out a solid win over Aubrey Rogers, taking the game 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Brody Graham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Graham was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonathan Hernandez Carr, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season. Carson Felts was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with.
Meanwhile, Palmetto Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Bonita Springs on Wednesday and fell 4-3.
Bryce Obrian was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Palmetto Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Omar Rosado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another was Jayden Herrera, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Barron Collier pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs over those games. As for Palmetto Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Barron Collier took their win against Palmetto Ridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2. Does Barron Collier have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palmetto Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
