Riverdale Baptist waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Rosedale Christian Academy Rosedale Panthers by a score of 64-55. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Rosedale Panthers are ranked 182nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverdale Baptist's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Giovonni Sanford, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and three steals. That's the most steals Sanford has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Kitchens, who earned seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Riverdale Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Rosedale Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jai'saun Williams, who went 8 for 15 to rack up 24 points. Williams has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Keyon Williams was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Riverdale Baptist pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points over those games. As for Rosedale Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-22.

Riverdale Baptist has already played their next game, a 76-66 defeat against Clinton Grace Christian on the 10th. As for Rosedale Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 88-65 loss against Evergreen Christian on the 10th.
