Softball Game Preview: East Vikings vs. Springfield Cougars

East is on an 11-game streak of home wins, while Springfield is on an 11-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Vikings will welcome the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Upper Dublin a 10-0 shutout. East's win was all the more impressive since the Flying Cardinals were averaging only 3.39 runs allowed on the season.

Ava Ferri was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Ferri was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, East let Riley Douglass and Ava Cross run wild. Douglass went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Cross went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Bickle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Dublin only posted an OBP of .000.

Meanwhile, Springfield made easy work of Upper Moreland on Friday and carried off an 8-0 victory.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 28-3. As for East, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.

East was able to grind out a solid win over Springfield in their previous matchup back in June of 2025, winning 6-3. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
