Volleyball Recap: Westfall Extends Winning Streak to Four

Westfall proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Unioto Shermans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since September 24, 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Westfall got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-27, 25-14, 23-25, 15-8.

Joni Snyder had an outrageously good game as she had 11 digs and eight aces. Those eight aces gave her a new career-high. Cora Bruce was another key player, getting nine digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Westfall was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 24 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Unioto's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Libby Anderson, who had ten digs and three aces. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Depoy, who had 11 digs and one assist.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Westfall, bringing their record up to 8-11. As for Unioto, they moved to 18-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-match winning streak.

Looking ahead, Westfall is taking a road trip to face off against South Point at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Unioto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
