Baseball Recap: Berry's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Berry had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the West Mecklenburg Hawks by a score of 13-9. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tyler Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Berry: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Berry let Bryce Hodges and Xavier Wilson run wild. Hodges went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Wilson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Wilson a new career-high.

Berry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Berry's record is now 8-11. As for West Mecklenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Coming up, Berry will be playing at home against Olympic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Cardinals' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Trojans have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for West Mecklenburg, they will venture away from home to square off against Mallard Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks are facing the Mavericks at the right time seeing as the Mavericks are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
