Baseball Game Preview: South Walton Seahawks vs. Bozeman Bucks

The South Walton Seahawks will venture away from home to square off against the Bozeman Bucks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

South Walton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Cottondale as South Walton made off with an 11-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seahawks.

Jace Cunningham and Jackson Perkins did most of the damage at the plate: Cunningham scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Perkins scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Cunningham a new career-high in hits (three). Cameron Tipton-Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

South Walton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cottondale only posted an OBP of .067.

Meanwhile, Bozeman put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 13-0 margin over Rutherford. Fans of the Bucks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Bozeman's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs over those games. As for South Walton, their record is now 2-0.

Everything went South Walton's way against Bozeman when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as South Walton made off with a 16-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Walton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
