Baseball Recap: Thousand Oaks Triumphs

Thousand Oaks hadn't done well against Newbury Park recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Lancers came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 6-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lancers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jaden Kolkowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Thousand Oaks is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Omar Heredia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Matthew Magruder was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Thousand Oaks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Thousand Oaks and bumps their season record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Newbury Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
