Recap: Williston Red Devils vs. North Marion Colts
The Williston Red Devils put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past North Marion 56-20 at home. The result was nothing new for Williston, who have now won seven contests by 30 points or more so far this season.
Williston had a senior duo take command as Jharez Williams rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries and Jace Mcdonald gained 96 total yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Williams, who rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Another reason for the win was Williston's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jymir Williams and Timothy Taylor Jr. who racked up five sacks between them.
Williston's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 North Marion and 2-7 North Florida Educational Institute (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.6% over those games). As for North Marion, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Williston will look to defend their home field on Friday against Citrus at 7:30 p.m. Citrus comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for North Marion, they will head out on the road to face off against Seabreeze at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
