Basketball Game Preview: Hoehne Farmers vs. Rocky Ford Meloneers

The Hoehne Farmers will face off against the Rocky Ford Meloneers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Hoehne's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Rocky Ford has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, everything went Hoehne's way against Swink as Hoehne made off with a 69-49 win.

It was another big night for Bobby Terry, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024. Nathan Zamora was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Hoehne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Rocky Ford lost 64-44 to Thomas MacLaren School on Saturday.

Hoehne has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Rocky Ford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Hoehne barely slipped by Rocky Ford when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 49-48. Does Hoehne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rocky Ford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
