Soccer Game Preview: The Colony vs. Newman Smith

The Colony will take on the Newman Smith Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colony's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 12 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a proper cat-fight when The Colony faced off against Reedy on Friday. The Cougars fell just short of the Lions by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, The Colony can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 644th, while Reedy are ranked 121st).

Meanwhile, Newman Smith lost 4-1 to Wakeland on Friday. Newman Smith haven't had much luck with Wakeland recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Newman Smith's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for The Colony, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-3.

The Colony suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Newman Smith when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
