Basketball Preview: Poetry Community Christian Pioneer vs. First Baptist Saints
Poetry Community Christian is 0-3 against the Saints since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Poetry Community Christian Pioneer will be playing in front of their home fans against the First Baptist Saints at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Poetry Community Christian beat the 41-30.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poetry Community Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel McClure, who scored nine points along with three steals. McClure has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Fernandez Woods, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, First Baptist can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Greenville Christian 81-31 on the road. Winning may never get old, but First Baptist sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Poetry Community Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-15. As for First Baptist, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.
Poetry Community Christian took a serious blow against the Saints when the teams last played back in January, falling 83-19. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Poetry Community Christian was down 53-13.
