Baseball Recap: Harbor Comes Up Short

Harbor had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 12-8 to make it five. They lost 7-1 to the North Salinas Vikings. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

As for North Salinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.

For North Salinas' part, Preston Hobbs and Markus Camacho did most of the damage at the plate: Hobbs went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Camacho went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Hobbs has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jake Burkhardt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harbor will head out to square off against San Lorenzo Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for North Salinas, they will venture away from home to face off against King City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.24 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
