Baseball Recap: Southern Comes Up Short

Southern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Valley Vikings, falling 18-3. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Richard Hernandez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Southern: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 13-16 otherwise. JuJu Bates was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 17-17. As for Valley, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-12.

As of now, neither Southern nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
