Baseball Recap: Solorio Victorious

Solorio hadn't done well against Brooks recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Sun Warriors had just enough and edged out the Eagles 9-8. The Sun Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Solorio got a big performance out of Juan Barrientos, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Barrientos a new career-high. Mauricio Garcia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Solorio and bumps their season record up to 7-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Brooks, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16.

Looking ahead, Brooks will take on Morgan Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Solorio will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' matchup: after the Eagles face off against the Mustangs, they'll take on Solorio again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
