Softball Recap: Normal Community's Run of Eight Straight Wins Now Over

Normal Community dropped their record down to 12-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Glenwood Titans, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Ironmen couldn't push the score so high this time.

Normal Community saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Mack, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Glenwood, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.4 runs.

On Glenwood's side, Irie Lohrenz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Lohrenz has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Bobb, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Kiel, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Normal Community will venture away from home to face off against Normal University at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ironmen are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Glenwood, they will host Carterville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
