Basketball Recap: Desert View Skates Past Catalina with Ease

There's no place like home for Desert View, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Catalina Trojans 77-16. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-8.

Desert View found their leader in sophomore Nino Sanchez, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanchez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Felix, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Desert View was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

With the win, Desert View broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-11. As for Catalina, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert View won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. As for Catalina, they will welcome Safford at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
