Basketball Recap: Franklin Wildcats vs. Sheldon Huskies
Franklin played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Sheldon Huskies and fell 90-52. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-19.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Juarros, who posted eight points and three steals. What's more, Juarros also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Kwali Simmons also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Sheldon found their leader in sophomore Baron Sabir, who went 5 for 9 en route to 23 points. Sabir is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sebastian James, who scored 11 points along with seven boards and five blocks.
Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Sheldon, they pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Elk Grove the next time they take the court. Franklin will head out to face Elk Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Sheldon will host them at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th.
