Soccer Game Preview: Vanguard vs. The Villages Charter

The Vanguard Knights will take on The Villages Charter Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vanguard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.7 goals per game this season.

Vanguard's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against North Marion as Vanguard made off with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Knights have won 11 matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit North Marion with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Addison Fratello (3), Kendal Davis (2), Ashlyn Wan (2), and Laurel Richmond.

Meanwhile, The Villages Charter beat Belleview 2-0 on Monday.

Vanguard is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up five goals over those 11 games. As for The Villages Charter, their win bumped their record up to 10-2-2.

Vanguard skirted past The Villages Charter 1-0 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vanguard since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
