Softball Recap: Pioneer Valley Regional Comes Up Short

After flying high against Westfield Technical Academy last Monday, Pioneer Valley Regional came back down to earth. The Panthers lost 16-4 to the Taconic Thunder on Tuesday. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Thunder when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pioneer Valley Regional saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luci Burnap, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Layla Goulston was another, going 2-for-3 with one triple.

Pioneer Valley Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer Valley Regional will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Frontier Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Taconic, they will host Drury at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
