Baseball Recap: Cheshire Academy's Undefeated Season over After 15 Games

If Cheshire Academy was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Hopkins on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cats fell just short of the Canterbury School Saints by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cheshire Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Modica, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Chase Mendela was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cheshire Academy fell to 14-1. As for Canterbury School, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

While Cheshire Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
