Monterey's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Smith County Owls 14-5. Considering the Wildcats have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexandrea Novak made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Monterey let Haylee Trevathan and Kaylin Shepherd run wild. Trevathan went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Shepherd got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Trevathan a new career-high. Haylee Garthwait was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Monterey has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Smith County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9-1.
