Hayden had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since September 13th.

Hayden had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-23.

Hailey Schmidtlein paced Hayden's offense, picking up 26 kills. Schmidtlein got some help from Blakely Walter and her 44 assists.

Gardner-Edgerton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bella Garcia, who had eight digs and three assists, and Hayden Meats, who had nine kills and nine digs. Meats has been hot for a while, having posted six or more kills the last 27 times she's played.

Hayden's victory bumped their record up to 26-7. As for Gardner-Edgerton, the loss snapped their winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 22-9 record.

Coming up, Hayden will square off against Mill Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gardner-Edgerton, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against West on the 11th.
