Recap: Cross County Cougars vs. Heartland Huskies
The Cross County Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Heartland 63-30 at home. Winning may never get old, but Cross County sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Cross County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tanner Hollinger out in front who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Anderson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Heartland still got an impressive performance from Sam Quiring, who scored 11 points. Quiring also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Thieszen, who scored six points.
Cross County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Heartland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Cross County will head out on the road to face off against David City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Heartland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Superior. Superior is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
