Softball Game Preview: Christian Academy Warriors vs. Southwestern Rebels

The Christian Academy Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Southwestern Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Christian Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

On Friday, Christian Academy beat Providence 4-1.

Jolynn Lawyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie McKain, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Southwestern's offense. They fell just short of Brown County by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southwestern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Fox, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Southwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Christian Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Southwestern, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Christian Academy continue to outrun the ball?

Christian Academy suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Southwestern when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
