Baseball Recap: Central Cougars vs. McGehee Owls

Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They came up short against the McGehee Owls, falling 18-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 back in March.

As for McGehee, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8. Considering they have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For McGehee's part, Mason Clemons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Clemons also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McGehee is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. Clemons was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, McGehee got a massive performance out of Guy Turner, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Turner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Brown, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Central will challenge Riverview at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McGehee, they will head out on the road to challenge Drew Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
