Altha is 0-3 against North Bay Haven Academy since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when Altha faced off against Chipley on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Reagan Roberts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaylean Clowes was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Tarrin McCrone was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Altha was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, North Bay Haven Academy waltzed into their match on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Seahawks 15-7.
Like Altha, North Bay Haven Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Ally Brady. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Brady has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Tarr, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Goodpaster, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
North Bay Haven Academy's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Altha, their record is now 12-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Altha hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like North Bay Haven Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Altha might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from North Bay Haven Academy in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
