Softball Game Preview: Interlake Saints vs. Kennedy Catholic Lancers

The Interlake Saints will venture away from home to face off against the Kennedy Catholic Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Interlake knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Kennedy Catholic likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Interlake needed a bit of extra time to put away Evergreen. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wolverines 14-13. While the Saints didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Dorah Wang, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two triples, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacky Jimenez, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Mt. Rainier, falling 18-9. Lancers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Wednesday.

Interlake has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Kennedy Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
