Basketball Recap: Joshua Palic Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

Sedgwick County lost to Garden County back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Sedgwick County Cougars put the hurt on the Garden County Eagles with a sharp 59-36 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Sedgwick County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joshua Palic, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 boards. Palic is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Tate Renquist was another key player, going 7 for 16 on his way to 18 points and three steals.

Sedgwick County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Garden County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Wilsie Lobner, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Kole Fornander, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Sedgwick County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Garden County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.
