Football Game Preview: Patterson Lumberjacks vs. Marksville Tigers

The Patterson Lumberjacks will take on the Marksville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marksville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Patterson, who comes in off a win.

Patterson took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Donaldsonville by a score of 28-19. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Marksville unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Bunkie, falling 49-24. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered since November 15, 2024.

Patterson will have to contain Devin Lavalais as he made an impact in Marksville's last game. He rushed for 110 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 237 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Marksville's leading receiver Jaden Price was Lavalais' top target yet again, picking up 125 receiving yards and one score.

Marksville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Patterson, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.

Things could have been worse for Patterson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-33 loss to Marksville when the teams last played back in November of 2016. Thankfully for the Lumberjacks, Laqaaron Mingo (who rushed for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 115 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
