Volleyball Recap: Hailey Pieper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hustisford over Palmyra-Eagle

Hustisford came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

While Hustisford was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-23, 25-19.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hailey Pieper, who had 15 digs and four aces. Pieper is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Layla Thimm was another key player, getting eight digs and two aces.

Among those leading the charge was Brooklyn West, who had seven assists and four aces. That's the most assists she has posted over her last three contests.

Hustisford's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Palmyra-Eagle, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-14.

Hustisford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Deerfield on the 16th. As for Palmyra-Eagle, they will square off against Fall River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
