Baseball Game Preview: Goldthwaite Eagles vs. Harper Longhorns

For the second straight game, Goldthwaite will face off against Harper. The Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Goldthwaite had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Harper put an end to it on Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since February 22nd.

Goldthwaite got a good showing from Ben Wetzig, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wetzig has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Goldthwaite saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hagen Greenway, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Greenway is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Harper is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Goldthwaite, they moved to 4-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
