Escondido had won three straight on the road, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 19-7 to make it four. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won four in a row.

Ryder Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Andrew Carrilo was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Jake ` Fleming was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
As for Canyon Crest Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17-1 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-17-1.
On Canyon Crest Academy's side, they got a good showing from Derek Yu, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The Ravens are 2-1 when Yu allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-16-1 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Jack Harkin was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As of now, neither Escondido nor Canyon Crest Academy have any future games scheduled.
