Softball Game Preview: Burton Panthers vs. Mumford Mustangs

The Burton Panthers will head out to challenge the Mumford Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Burton sitting on six straight wins and Mumford on four.

Burton barely beat Snook the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Burton's pitchers stepped up to hand Snook a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mumford made easy work of Iola on Friday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The Mustangs are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the seventh game they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Burton pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mumford, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Everything went Burton's way against Mumford when the teams last played back in February, as Burton made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
