Recap: Farrell Steelers vs. Meadville Bulldogs
Even though the Meadville Bulldogs scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, the Farrell Steelers still came out on top. Farrell walked away with a 67-60 victory over Meadville. The win made it back-to-back wins for Farrell.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farrell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Simeir Wade, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Wade scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Odem III, who scored 13 points.
Jack Burchard and Lucas Luteran certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Burchard scored 20 points along with six rebounds, while Luteran scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Luteran scored a full 38.3% of Meadville's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kellen Ball was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Meadville were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Farrell's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Meadville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Farrell won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clarion-Limestone at 7:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Clarion-Limestone will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Farrell is ranked 162nd). Meadville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Castle at 3:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. One thing working in New Castle's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
