Football Recap: Wray Piles Up the Points Against Burlington + How To Watch

It's playoff time, and Wray had no trouble coming through when it counted. They claimed a resounding 50-14 victory over the Burlington Cougars. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Austin Collins was his usual excellent self, rushing for 89 yards and four TDs, while also throwing for 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 16 passes. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Aaron Tena was Collins' top target, picking up 38 receiving yards, while also rushing for 89 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wray was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 193 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Burlington still got an impressive performance from Jason Saucedo, who rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Saucedo's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 106 rushing yards.

Wray is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.7 points on average over those games. As for Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Wray will take on Limon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Badgers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. Burlington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
