Baseball Recap: Berlin Comes Up Short

Berlin had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it nine. They lost 19-5 to the Plymouth Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 on Tuesday.

As for Plymouth, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-6. Considering they have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Plymouth's part, the team relied heavily on Oliver Picard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Picard has posted since back in May of 2024. Cole Kuhn was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Berlin will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kettle Moraine Lutheran at 4:45 p.m. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Plymouth, they will venture away from home to square off against Manitowoc Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ships have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
