Softball Recap: Coronado Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Coronado had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Crawford on Wednesday. The Islanders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Colts a 12-0 shutout. The Islanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.

Chloe Fledderjohn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fledderjohn was even better at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Parker Thompson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Coronado has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Crawford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Coronado will square off against rival Mission Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Crawford is set to take on their familiar foe Morse at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
