Softball Recap: South Lafourche's Losing Streak Snapped at 11 Games

South Lafourche had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They never let the L.W. Higgins Hurricanes get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Wednesday. The Tarpons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maddie Vega and Rylie Guidry did most of the damage at the plate: Vega went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Guidry got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Vega has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jana Bernard, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

South Lafourche always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

South Lafourche's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for L.W. Higgins, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, South Lafourche will be playing at home against Assumption at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for L.W. Higgins, they will take on Benjamin Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. L.W. Higgins has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
