Baseball Recap: Hackensack Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Hackensack had won three straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 10-10-1 to make it four. They came out on top against the Cliffside Park Red Raiders by a score of 3-0. For the Comets, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Red Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2018.

Luis Hernandez tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. Hackensack is 4-2 when Hernandez allows three or fewer earned runs, but 6-8-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hackensack saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leifry Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Cliffside Park, they now have a losing record of 9-10. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Cliffside Park's side, Matthew Padron was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Furthermore, Padron didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.

Coming up, Hackensack will square off against St. Mary at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Cliffside Park, they will head out to square off against Wood-Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
