Soccer Recap: Petal Takes a Loss

If Petal was riding high fresh off their 4-1 takedown of Pearl last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Petal Panthers fell just short of the Northeast Jones Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Emory Meyers and Claire Tyson scored both of Petal's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Petal's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Northeast Jones, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-2-1.

Petal wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, an 8-0 victory against Meridian on the 14th. Northeast Jones has also already played their next game (against Mendenhall), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
