Baseball Recap: Onaga Drops Highest Score of Season Against Blue Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Onaga). They put the hurt on the Blue Valley Rams with a sharp 13-2 victory on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Casen Hutfles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Onaga's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Hutfles was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Xavier Berges was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). L.J. Koelzer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Onaga moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Blue Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Onaga beat the Rams by a score of 10-1 later that day.
