Baseball Recap: Corinth's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Corinth came into Friday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Hartford Central Tanagers 17-1 on Friday. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Riverhawks this season.

Gage Bardin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has become a key player for Corinth: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Bardin was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Halliday, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Keegan Baker, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Corinth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Corinth's record is now 5-10. As for Hartford Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corinth will face off against Northville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hartford Central, they will head out to square off against Bolton Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
