Volleyball Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. Westerly Bulldogs
Mt. Hope and Westerly are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The two teams will meet in a canine-themed contest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Hope will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Mt. Hope got the win against Pilgrim by a conclusive 3-0.
Meanwhile, Westerly faced Cumberland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Westerly came out on top against Cumberland by a score of 3-1.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-13, 23-25, 25-14.
Westerly relied on the efforts of Lila Wycall, who had five digs and four aces, and Ava Ullrich, who had three digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good server: Westerly was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 33 consecutive games dating back to last season.
