Baseball Game Preview: Little Chute Mustangs vs. Mosinee Indians

The Little Chute Mustangs will challenge the Mosinee Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Little Chute sitting on six straight victories and Mosinee on three.

On Tuesday, it was close, but Little Chute sidestepped Marinette for a 5-3 win. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, Mosinee beat Lakeland 12-7 on Tuesday.

Easton Brooks looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elliot Yirkovsky, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Tyler Baars was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Mosinee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mosinee's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Little Chute, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
