Baseball Recap: Ponderosa Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Ponderosa waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Vista Ridge Wolves with a sharp 11-1 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Ethan Alejo was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Grady Jacobs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Ponderosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ponderosa pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Vista Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Ponderosa will be playing at home against ThunderRidge at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Grizzlies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Vista Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Fountain-Fort Carson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
