Volleyball Recap: St. Joseph Gets the Win

St. Joseph had won three straight at home, but on Monday they bumped up to 30-10 to make it four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the San Antonio Christian Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Flyers have posted since September 6th.

Syler Sullivan had an outrageously good game as she had 25 digs and two aces. Those 25 digs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Morris, who had 13 digs and four aces.

As for San Antonio Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 16-15. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with St. Joseph: they've now lost seven in a row.

San Antonio Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mary Ellen Sturm, who had nine digs and two aces, and Annabelle Warren, who had 20 digs and ten kills. Warren has been hot recently, having posted six or more kills the last three times she's played. Taytum Robert also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. St. Joseph will challenge rival Providence Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, San Antonio Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe Saint Mary's Hall at 6:00 p.m. on the 24th.
